
Studies are now showing that 10% of people in the U.S. have their own blog and 15% their own webpage. That's millions of people that are adding their own online content on a consistent basis. Around 43 million do it off and on in the U.S. alone.
These people are connected, interconnected and communicating with one another by sharing their opinions, thoughts and interests, creating an online society that has never existed before.
This doesn't include those that post feedback or comments on forums or blogs either. It is this multiplicity of thought and views that has never been done on this type of scale before and is undermining the old media.
And contrary to what some think, this is just the very beginning of the trend. The whirlwind hasn't even begun yet. The social networking sites are just starting to make their contribution.One thing to think about is that sooner or later you may be considered one of those that are talked about. You will have to think of managing your online reputation. Who knows? A year from now you may be considered the "old media!"
