A lot of online marketers, especially those who's focus is on helping others succeed, have a great opportunity at this time which only comes around about every 7 to 10 years, and that is the response of people to an economic slowdown.
What pyschologically happens in a slowdown is people begin to feel insecure from the uncertainty of what the future holds, and consequently look for ways to have more control.
They also either hear about layoffs and cutbacks, or have experienced it themselves; motivating them to look for ways to not let it happen again to them.
These opens the door to marketers who serve the market that trains people to succeed on the Internet.
This is what happens during this time: a bunch of new people unfamilar with how to succeed online flood the market. This provides great opportunities for marketing educators. This of course applies to more than online businesses, but that's a different story.
Now, what we need to understand at times like these, is a whole new set of people are clamoring for information that we have thought long past being needed. When we work in the online business world for a long time, we end up working under assumptions we've learned, which others are complete novices and babies in.
So much is talked about in connection to Web 2.0, that much of the building blocks of our success aren't thought about any longer.
How can this opportunity be responded to in a profitable way? Go back to the days you were just starting, and remember what you had to learn, and put together training packages for those wanting to learn the ropes.
I know this doesn't sound sexy or interesting on the outside, but it will make a number of marketer trainers a lot of money over the next two or three years.
I've seen a lot of people starting to ask questions I had answered 6 years ago ... or more. What that means is a new generation of those wanting to learn to be successful online has emerged, and those having the quality training materials ready to meet this expoding demand will be extremely successful.
Again, the motivators and reasons behind this is fear, insecurity, uncertainty, and reality. This always creates the atmosphere of people wanting to take their financial futures into their own hands. Be there to meet those needs and you'll gain another generation of life-long customers you can market to for years.
One major thing to keep in mind, is you can't assume anyone interested in learning, understands one bit of the process of online marketing or business. Set up the foundation of building a business, and from there introduce the online elements in an easy to understand manner.
