FBI Investigates Wikipedia for Porn Violations, Including Pedophilia

A report on one of the most visited independent news sites on the Web, World Net Daily, revealed the increasing amount of porn on the popular Wikipedia Web site, which is highly visited by children.

One Wikipedia representative, Mark Pelligrini, responded to the story saying, "Wikipedia's goal is to provide an encyclopedia that contains the sum of all human knowledge. To that end, Wikipedia does not censor objectionable material.

"[I]f someone goes to the articles on 'sex,' 'penis' or any graphic topic, we do provide frank descriptions and images. For images, we aim for clinical pictures of the sort you would find in an anatomy or medical textbook."

Pelligrini needs to look at the Web site he says aims for "clinical pictures" before he makes these assertions. There's a lot of filth and rot on the site that is nothing other than hard-core porn.

The problem is the filters parents and schools may use to protect children aren't geared to protect children on Wikipedia.

The other problem is Wikipedia representatives couldn't care less, as displayed by the head of communications for the Wikipedia foundation, Jay walsh, who said, "We don't censor any of the content. There are a number of images that people might be alarmed by. … You could open up a classic Britannica or World Book Encyclopedia, and you'd find entries on sex and sexual topics, perhaps not as deep or prolific as you might find on Wikipedia, but that's kind of a reality of the 21st century."

That's about as stupid as a comment as I've heard. The reality of the 21st century is that hard-core porn can be accessed by children? That's what this clown is saying.

One of the more troubling images included on the Web site is a picture from the 1976 album of the Scorpions, which shows a naked prepubescent girl. It has been banned in the U.S. The photo is what initiated the investigation by the FBI.

Even after concerns were expressed the dimwit site kept the picture up as of the last time I looked. The question that must be asked, is why.

Constitutional attorney Matt Barber has asked Wikipedia to pull the hard-core porn off the site, and minimally include a strong warning before minors access the images.

The fact that those connected to Wikipedia defend this garbage is extremely troubling, and hopefully continued pressure will result in them removing the junk. There's simply no defense for them allowing the stuff on the site.
