Marvel Entertainment Inc. (NYSE:MVL) is ramping up its digital push, and has hired Ira Rubenstein away from Sony Corp's (NYSE:SNE) Sony Pictures Digital to lead the charge.
Rubenstein will retain the title at Marvel he had at Sony of executive vice president.
The challenge for Rubenstein will be to expand the Marvel brand across the various digital and media platforms.
He worked with the popular digital game shows like "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune" for Sony, and distributed them across PS2 and PS3 gaming platforms, mobile, interactive television and broadband. He will use that experience in a similar way with Marvel.
On the Internet Marvel will develop more digital video and animated content, while also purusing the mobile gaming platform as well.
