
The Memphis Tigers weren't able to respond to shooting free throws under pressure, and Kansas was able to overcome a 60 to 51 point lead by Memphis with a little over two minutes left in the game to win the NCAA Men's National Basketball title.
Not only was this an unbelievable comeback by the Jayhawks, but a bitter pill to swallow for Memphis, as they not only missed the majority of free throws when fouled in the last couple minutes of regulation, but they had their big guys up there that they wanted to shoot them.
They weren't able to pull through for the Tigers, as Kansas dominated them in overtime to win the game 75 to 68.
It was mentioned that the team which executed the best would win this game, as they were pretty evenly matched talent-wise, and in the way they both played defense. I say that because sometimes pure talent can win a game, but that wasn't to be the case.
That was exactly what happened here, as the team that executed the best under pressure would be the team that won the game, and that was definitely the Jayhawks over the last seven minutes of the game when it counted.
This is the third national championship in the Jayhawks' history.
