The continual release of photos online of Miley Cyrus does beg the question of what's going on with her. Is there someone behind the scenes promoting this stupidity in order to have her start to appeal to an older audience? Is she simply growing up and misbehaving? It's not like she needs attention or is in danger of losing appeal to her core fan base.
One of her colleagues, another young women, Brenda Song, 20, shows she doesn't understand a thing about branding, as she had this to say about Miley: "I love Miley. I think she's a very talented actress and singer. Whatever she does in her personal life is her personal life."
While it may be entertaining to listen to the mantra of there being a separation between a person's personal and professional life, it's a lie in most cases.
People that follow a public figure definitely care about what they represent. With Miley choosing to go the wholesome route, it's a mistake to make it look like teenagers that grow up will all turn to what she's doing now. People can forgive a lot of things, one thing they don't forgive though is not remaining true to your brand.
What Miley is doing, no matter what the reason or influence, is breaking with what she represents. That will be a huge mistake if she doesn't get that under control immediately. She's already done a lot of harm to who and what she says she represents, and many fans are getting tired of her antics.
It's one thing to say you're sorry, it's another thing to get back to what you represent. Sorry has to come with actions when it comes to branding, and the two go together. People will forgive you, but you have to show that the changes and mistakes are being turned from.
To me it's pretty disgusting how she was taken advantage of by Vanity Fair, as they waited until her parents left the recent photo shoot before taking the seminude photo of Miley which will be used for the interview with her dad and her. People in this industry need to learn you can't ever take your guard down, as many in the entertainment industry don't care if they destroy people if they can sell their magazines, TV shows or movies.
Miley does say she's embarrassed by the shoot, by why aren't she and her parents fighting to get it removed from the story. The other question is why did Vanity Fair release this online?
Miley and her parents need to be careful, it seems someone is giving them horrible advice to turn into a typical negative diva figure. The world has enough of those clowns already. What makes Miley different and loved is her former commitment to being wholesome and a role model. She's quickly losing that differentiation.
Whoever is counseling her to do this is plain wrong. Retaining her core values is as important to her as a brand as anything else. She is in a key moment of her professional life, and the decisions she makes now will determine who and what she'll be as a brand in the future.
Retaining her wholesome image and lifestyle is not only important personally, but professionaly. Not that many in the industry are able or willing to do it, and her popularity shows how many people appreciate that. If she continues going in this direction, she'll lose her fan base. Then what will she become and where will she go? The decision is in her court.
In the months ahead we'll see the choice she makes, as she hasn't slowed down in making mistake after mistake with her photos on the Internet.

In my opinion, Miley Cyrus and her parents need to get a new management team for her, as whoever is counselling her to take the actions she's now taking are just plain ignorant and wrong. Most brands and companies would... [Read More]
