Coldplay will be releasing their new album "Viva La Vida" digitally in a week, and to give fans a taste of what to expect they are offering the single "Violet Hill" free online; leading up to the album release. As of 7:15 EDT Tuesday morning, fans can download it from their Web site. For UK fans that'll be 12:15 p.m. said the band.
The song will be available as a free download for a week, and then be taken off the site in that capacity, as digital retailers will then be able to sell it.
On their Web site the band also said they'll be offering free shows at the Brixton Academy in London on June 16, and also at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 23. Details haven't been released on how to get tickets or times of the concerts yet.
The band also said today that the release of their album in the UK has been changed to four days earlier, now scheduled for a June 12 release. That coincides with the album release in most other parts of the world.
