
The catalog industry has changed in focus over the last 4 years, as catalogs connected to religion, automotive and education have increased significantly from 2004 to 2008, according to Oxbridge Communications.
Oxbridge says the number of catalogs in the 2008 National Directory have increased to 12,230, in contrast to the 10,668 there were in 2004.
Catalog Category Leaders of 2004:
Manufacturing (-48%, from 469 to 244 catalogs)
Computers (-27.5%, from 313 to 227)
Crafts (-23.8%, from 298 to 227)
Office (-13.2%, from 296 to 257)
Catalog Category Leaders of 2008:
Religion (60.5%, from 205 to 329)Automotive (+52.4%, from 389 to 593)
Education (+32%, from 400 to 528)
Food (21.2%, from 270 to 332)
For online catalogs, they have grown to 1,868 all-internet catalogs, while there are 10,543 combined online and print catalogs that are listed in the 2008 Ntional Directory.
