The recent report by Accustream detailing user-generated video for 2007, shows that professional video has a strong demand online.
One example is Crackle.com, which led the user-generated video space as far as average view per video, because they primarily focused on the professional video space, rather than the amateur.
With all video taken into consideration, the average number of views were 10,695 per video. For Crackle, professional content brought them a far higher average of 216,596 per video, said Accustream.
Citing Harris Interactive, Web Pro News added that when asking adult Internet users in the U.S. wanted to see more of, the least amount wanted was user-generated video.
That of course means the move toward professional video is a good one, and there will continually be a high demand for it. It seems there's only so many ways you can show the same stuff over and over again before people get tired of it, the probable reason behind the slowing desire to see user-generated video.
At the same time, younger people overall had the highest response to wanting to see ugv. That seems to imply the trend is growing older for online video viewers in the U.S., and as the trend grows older, professional video becomes more desired.
