"MySpace Celebrity" Newest MySpace Channel Launch

MySpace (NWS-A) announced today they've launched a new channel called "MySpace Celebrity," where stars will be able to "communicate directly with fans and control their voice."

At the time of launch they had over 300 celebrity profiles, including Tom Hanks, Jenna Fischer, Ellen Page, Zach Braff, Ashton Kutcher and Elijah Wood, among numerous others.

Also at launch there were a number of interviews, photos, videos and blogs from  Elijah Wood, Ellen Page, Balthazar Getty, Jenna Fischer, Kim Kardashian and Matthew McConaughey.

Among the celebrities it will include not only actors, but other categories like musicians, comedians, socialites and athletes.

“MySpace Celebrity is Hollywood’s new home page. Celebrities have been using MySpace since the site’s launch and it’s a natural extension for us to now offer them an aggregated channel where they can be in control of their own image," said MySpace President and Co-Founder Tom Anderson. “We want MySpace users to connect with celebrities in the same way that they do with musicians.”

Zach Braff also sounded really excited about the new channel saying, “MySpace is a revolutionary way for people who create things to have a dialogue with an audience who may like (or sometimes dislike) what you've created. It's kind of like the world's largest ongoing conversation."

Some of the celebrity features included, along with the already mentioned interviews, photos, videos and blogs, will be a behind-the-scenes section, celebrities and charities, up-and-coming stars and celebrity news.

Depending on how interactive the stars are with this, it could really be a huge hit for fans and the stars themselves. It eliminates the technical side and makes it easy for anyone who wants to to communicate. This should work out great for everyone involved.
