Tony Scott, who has extensive experience leading IT departments in large companies, has been hired by Microsoft (MSFT) as their chief information officer.
Along with working for Disney (DIS), Scott worked at General Motors (GM) in the same capacity. He was also the former vice president of operations of Bristol-Meyers Squibb (BMY).
Microsoft has had two interim managers in place since they fired their former CIO, Stuart Scott, for unnamed violations of company policies. Alain Crozier and Shahla Aly will return to their regular jobs with the company.
Scott will oversee about 4,000 workers, which are responsible for all the support systems connected to corporate processes, marketing, services and worldwide sales.
He will start his tenure at the company in February 2008, and report to Kevin Turner, Microsoft's COO.
