One of the great struggles almost any online marketer will have, is in tapping into new revenue streams. I mean that in relationship to marketing to existing customers or gaining new ones.
An unrealized potential many of us have but aren't aware of, is in relationship to past marketing experience, campaigns, product development, or whatever there is within you or your company that you've went through during your business journey.
Here's a post you can read I wrote about Jack Welch and the way he saw this powerful secret residing within General Electric (NYSE:GE), and how he and other companies started mining their people and divisions for the development of new services.
There's nothing more powerful than people and companies that have taken the information someone else needs, and have already used it in a variety of ways, services and/or products. That type of experience can be taken and rewoven into new services which people and other companies will clamor for.
One thing more powerful than information, is people that have taken it and figured out how to practically apply it. Mine out the ways you've done that in the past, and think of new services you can develop that would answer those needs in customers and potential customers.
Those that bring this into practice will be victorious in their businesses, and last over a long period of time.
Don't just think outside the box, start to think "beyond the box." Very few companies will make it in the future based on a single product or product release. It's those that are able to develop new services based on the experience connected to their core products that will flourish.
Don't underestimate what you may have beyond what you have built in a box.
