The over 1,900 affiliate subscribers to the Associated Press will get some help on monetizing their video content with a new feature they created for the web.
What the new tool from the AP will do is allow local TV, radio or newspaper stations to upload their locally produced video and place local ads against it
During the beta stage, the AP's director of online video, Bill Burke said: “We’ve seen some early adopters dramatically increase stream counts by using this capability, which allows affiliates to keep all their video in one place, which them lets them sell local advertising against it.”
Not only is it a way to make money for the affiliates, but it's also a money saver, as it will keep them from having to license technology or build it out.
This is also a smart move from the Associated Press side, as it also helps bind their affliliates to them and keep them happy.
