Yahoo! (YHOO) India has landed a partnership with Jagran Group, which accounts for 80 percent of India's web audience through its Dainik Jagran news website.
How the deal works will be an integration of news and current affairs content from the Jagran website, with Yahoo!'s search, mail and messenger features. The partnership will be branded as "Jagran Yahoo! India," and will be offered in seven Indian languages.
Yahoo! will also manage the monetization of the content through ad-serving and advertising sales. Ad revenue will be shared between the two parties.
"This is a partnership that will reshape the online Hindi news and current affairs landscape – in terms of customer experience, user engagement and monetization," said Aparna Pujar, director of products, media and entertainment at Yahoo! India.
"We looked for a partner with a leadership position in Hindi content, a well respected and renowned brand and a shared vision of the opportunity."
