A look back at the highest visited stories in our business network at Know More Media, reveals a general trend that continues to be popular with many people.
Unsurprisingly, the top visited stories over the year were in connection with the entertainment industry or celebrities. There were a couple exceptions, for example, a posting on the iPhone in contrast to the Voyager Phone, and also a posting I put up, where a cheerleading coach put up nude photos of herself and a student on the Internet.
All of these areas are part of what drives a lot of Internet traffic. The entertainment industry and celebrities will always be a part of what drives a lot of traffic, although it's extremely competitive and filled with an innumerable amount of sites.
Gossip and scandal, whether in the entertainment industry or with anyone in a trusted caregiver or leadership position, is also a strong generator of traffic. That's why stupid schoolteachers and others in similar positions, are always of interest to readers.
The inclusion of a gadget - especially an electronic one - in the top ten, is also of no surprise, as there seems to be an insatiable desire to get any type of information on the endless number of gadgets and products coming out. That will continue to be a hot topic as we go ahead.
Most of the general market is sown up here on the Internet, I would definitely think in terms of going niche in this area if I had an interest in this particular field.
While there wasn't a top ten finisher in this area on our network, everyday news stories that you can wrap your blog topic around are another big driver of online traffic. Keep in mind they can't just be any story, but a story that definitely has a lot of appeal.
The posts I've listed here were the top ten in our network, but it doesn't tell the whole story, as many secondary posts were written that also drove a tremendous amount of traffic about the same subject. So some of these had an extraordinary amount of traffic they generated overall, if you include them across the entire blog network. The point being that we can cover a story in more than one post, and drive traffic to them as well.
There are definitely other topics of interest that can drive traffic to a blog or website, but these are definitely among the top ones you'll find.
