While Cory Ondrejka liked to mock creationism, it looks like the Linden Labs gods have spoken, as he's no longer with the company.
The usual "he resigned" was given as the reason for his departure, but Linden Labs CEO Philip Rosedale said in a statment that "The needs of our company are changing, and the role of CTO, or technical lead, has also evolved. Cory and I are in agreement that our paths, at this point in time at least, lie in different directions."
Ondrejka is the one who helped develop the computer code that the Second Life world revolves around. With all the problems they've had there, no wonder he "resigned" from the company.
One thing Ondrejka did accomplish at the company was to push for the strategy to allow users to keep the intellectual property rights of their creations within the virtual world. That created a virtual economy in the world, where real-life dollars are traded and exchanged for virtual goods.
