Any fan of the story "Lord of the Rings" had to be excited to hear that Peter Jackson had worked things out with New Line Cinema and was named executive producer of the prequel to the series, "The Hobbit."
Today that short-lived excitement was dampered, as Jackson's manager Ken Kamins said Jackson felt he would be too busy to work on the project as director, saying he didn't want fans to be disappointed by having to wait too long to see the story revisited.
Almost immediately across the web, fans began expressing their disatisfaction with those comments and decision, and started letting it be known that they'd rather wait than have someone else direct the films.
This is one of those cases that the Internet could have a dramatic impact on whether this decision holds. Being a staunch Lord of the Rings fan, and really enjoying Peter Jackson's interpretation of the story, it would be difficult to have someone completely different - no matter how talented they are - directing the film.
The passion Jackson has for the story is imparted through his telling of the story. How good of a director someone may be doesn't necessarily translate that same passion into the work.
I know that even though Jackson would retain creative approval of everything, it isn't the same as being in there mixing it up daily, and putting how you feel about the story into the project.
I think we should start letting it be known across the web that we want Peter Jackson to direct the project, and we are willing to wait an extra year or two to ensure that happens.
If you're in agreement with that, let us know here, as well as other places across the web too.
Here's a slogan for us: The Hobbit will get no traction, without Peter Jackson. Spread the word! We've got the Jackson passion.

You got it! Jackson WILL direct and produce. Read more here: www.marketsaw.com
