It seems the upcoming big screen version of Knight Rider has owners of the original cars offering them up in hopes they've increased in value from the publicity. To that end, one of the cars from the TV series is up for sale on eBay.
The original series had four cars which were used for scenes with David Hasselhoff, who played the original Michael Knight.
In April 2007 one of the four cars were put up for sale, and brought about a lower-than-expected $100,000. The original asking price was $149,995.
On the eBay auction, so far there has only been one bid of $20,000 for this car; the minimum asking price.
Even more interesting about the story of selling the black 1982 Pontiac Trans Am, is the story behind it, where the owner of the car, collector Andrew Kissel, was murdered, and the case has yet to be solved. The car is being sold to satisfy the claims of creditors, who say his estate owes $30 million to them.
It was only a few days before Kissel was to plead guilty in a real estate fraud case when he was found dead in his Greenwich mansion.
His brother Robert didn't fare too well in life either, as his wife gave him a strawberry milkshake filled with poison, and not long afterwards beat him to death with a statue in Hong Kong.
