Now that the Know More Media business blog network has reached its second year, I thought it would be a good time to give some input on what the future may hold for them (us), as I write under their banner.
The online business space is becoming increasingly crowded, as the lure to draw advertisers within this niche is strong. The reason why is those that win the hearts and minds of business and finance leaders, can command premium prices from advertisers. It's a very desirable market to be successful in.
In my opinion, the reason why I think the network has a great future, is the difference and quality of its writers. Most the people, if not all, write from
experience on the network. I read a ton of business articles and posts on the Internet, and the vast majority aren't written by experiential experts in their fields, but rather by those that have never been in business or went through the emotional ups and downs of the practical problems that can arise almost daily.
So in our case, if we gather information like everyone else does, one of our differentiators is that we can comment and discuss it from a viewpoint of experience and success. That's much different than simply an opinionated person throwing out their thoughts. While that has its place, it's not the type of information that can help a business or business leader succeed.
That's not to say we're not opinionated on this network. We definitely are! But our opinions are based in reality and real-world experience. Our strength is that we don't write merely theory, like many other "business" writers do.
Because we're still in the disruption stage of the business industry online, many are cautious on who they want to align themselves with as far as advertisers go. There is a lot more caution online than in any other medium in what agencies and companies want to place their brand beside. It's a legitimate concern.
As the CEO of Know More Media, Hal Halladay says, "There is minimal central oversight. Few are checking facts. However, that does not render ineffective or invalid the opinion, view and authority of all blogs."
For this reason, and the trust factor related to online content - which is still a wild wild west at this time - it is taking longer to gain trust than say someone that has a building sitting on some property somewhere, which still in the minds of many advertisers is a major measurement of success.
A key strength Know More Media has, is it hasn't strayed from its commitment to stay solely a business blogging network. A number of blogs and business writers stray from this and add all sorts of unrelated topics and niche subjects in hopes of driving traffic quicker to their blogs or networks. In the long run I believe that strategy will fail, as far as it relates to business interests.
The next couple years will be extraordinary for the network, as the need and demand for quality business information increases, and it continually grows as a trusted source of quality information.
