
Sony (SNE) has added a number of new advertisers to its Crackle.com site (formerly Grouper), adding to Pepsi (PEP), which previously announced their sponsorship of the Minisode Network in October. The Minisode Network features shorts of around 5 minutes each which present classic clips from old TV shows.
Other advertisers joining the online video site to sponsor channels are, along with Sony and Pepsi, Honda (HMC), Vodafone and Epson.
Crackle develops targeted channels which companies then choose to sponsor. Another example besides Pepsi is Honda, which will sponsor the Shorts Channel.
Sony is also developing a costumization strategy to offer to global markets; working with networks and ad agencies to get the right mix.
To offer a wider online reach, Sony has syndicated the video to web portals and social networking sites to make it more appealing to advertisers.
