Sometime in the next 30 to 45 days, MySpace (NWS-A) will add "news feeds" to the network, something similar to what is used in Facebook at this time.
Talking to Reuters, Fox Interactive Media President Peter Levinsohn said: "The concept of a news feed is something we are very focused on, and we'll be well down the path in the next 30 to 45 days."
What news feeds do is let someone know what their friends or fellow workers are doing at any given time. They have been extremely popular at Facebook.
Another change coming to the social networking site is to empower users to create more than a single profile, so they can create on for their family, another for friends, and still another for work. A person will then be able to communicate with their various networks of contacts in the appropriate way.
The professional profile could be very valuable to the network, in that they've lost a lot of users to competitors like LinkedIn, which focuses on that niche.
Levinsohn also confirmed FIM is going to start offering ads through their FIM Serve, originally developed for MySpace, but which will end up with a widespread reach beyond the network.
He added that it won't compete with the Google (GOOG) text ads already being served up on the network, and will offer display ads exclusively.
