
The rumor that Forbes Media was interested in buying Clipmarks has proven to be true. The story originally got some buzz in August, but denials from executives within Clipmarks quickly squelched the idea that anything was for certain.
Clipmarks.com is an online news site which empowers users to go beyond bookmarking sites, to actually "clipping" them and sharing parts of them with others.
The purpose of the acquisition most likely is to be used to further build up Forbes' news content, by offering editors the tools to put up content from around the web which they think their readers will want to take a look at.
Current Clipmarks CEO Eric Goldstein will continue running the company. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
