A body matching the description of Emily Sander, who was known on an Internet porn site as Zoey Zane, was found about 50 miles east of El Dorado. Sander had last been seen leaving the Retreat bar with a man identified as Israel Mireles.
According to El Dorado Police Chief Tom Boren, the body was found at about 2:20 p.m. on Thursday. He declined to answer how the body had been discovered or its condition.
Boren added that they will now center their investigation on finding Israel Mireles. That seems to imply that while an official identification hasn't been made, they must be almost 100 percent sure it's Sander to make the statement they're now focusing on finding Mireles.
There is also still concern for another young female believed to be with Mireles, his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend, who authorities believe is with him at this time.
A car Mireles rented was discovered abandoned in Vernon, Texas, where he has relatives.
In a puzzling statement, Boren added concerning the Internet connection that "The issue of the Internet and the spin-off of that has been literally crippling our investigation." He is adamant there is no connection between her online activities and her disappearance and possible murder.
Yet when you consider he hasn't even been talked to or found yet, it's hard to believe that statement can be seriously made. Boren is obviously wanting to cut through the popularity of that idea so he can focus on what is meaningful to the investigation. Even so, I don't think that Boren's statement can currently be seriously believed or confirmed.
