RottenNeighbor.com is a new Website that allows people to check out a neighborhood or specific house before buying something nearby.
What the site does is offer people the chance to let out their frustrations with their neighbors and talk about them in an open forum. They can let out their complaints and experiences for other people to see. It can give people an overview of a neighborhood to give them information to make a decision by.
With the website being unmoderated, it leaves a lot of to be desired. It takes away from the value of it being a legitimate tool, rather than just another form of entertainment and ranting.
Of course if Brant Walker, the founder of the site planned it that way, it'll work well for him. Walker is the same person who developed FakeYourSpace.com, which sold fake MySpace and Facebook friends to make a person's profile look more popular. He closed it down when his investors were concerned about having to litigate with MySpace (NWS-A).
That brings us to the monetizing aspect of the site. I think he'll have to either add filters of some sort to block cussing and slurs, or he'll have a difficult time attracting advertisers. Either that or he'll have to operate it more like an entertainment gossip site, and attract those types of advertisers.
If he wants it to be taken as a serious house or apartment hunting tool, he'll have to moderate it to some degree.
The site will look at requests for take downs on a case-by-case basis at this time.
