Pepsi (PEP) is taking its new global restyle advertising campaign to Crackle.com, where they'll sponsor a number of retro shows on The Minisode Network.
The Network will be adding new programming to bring the number of channels to 18, with more on the way. Some of the new offerings will be "I Dream of Jeanie," "The Jeffersons," and "Bewitched."
"The Pepsi retro can serves as a passport to destinations and experiences our consumers enjoy," said Russell Weiner, VP of marketing, Pepsi. "That's why The Minisode Network is a great partner for this design -- the combination of our can with this site provides a full nostalgic experience. When these shows originally aired, our consumers could enjoy watching them while drinking a Pepsi. Today, they're able to do the same in a contemporary way."
For the month of November, Pepsi will put "retro" themes on its packaging, featuring a number of different logos Pepsi used over the last 100 years. The cans will include the web site http://www.throwbackapepsi.com, where consumers will be guided to The Minisode Network.
Each time the packaging changes, a new web site address will be included, which will allow consumers opportunities to access exclusive content, games, sweepstakes and contests. The changes will also feature things younger people relate to like fashion, cars, music and sports.
Pepsi will be branded on the homepage of The Minisode Network channel on Crackle.com. The Network itself features short versions of classic TV shows, as we talked about above.
Below is an example of what a sponsored video clip will look like on its own. I chose it because within it a very young John Ritter plays the role of one of the drivers of the armored truck in the scene.
