The Walt Disney Co. (DIS) website received the largest number of unique visitors in its history in August, drawing 23 million to the website, 12 percent more than in July. The company cited data from Nielsen//Net Ratings.
"It is now the No. 1 kid and family entertainment site as measured by comScore Media Metrix," said Paul Yanover, executive vice president and managing director of Disney Online. "There are so many new aspects to Disney.com compared to what it was before last February."
Disney has been overhauling its site in a bid to increase traffic. They've also been doing the same for ABC.com and ESPN.com.
One thing the new platform will allow on the Disney.com site is the ability for Disney to add to the site as they go along, which would create what Yanover calls "virtual worlds" which would gather content thematically.
Yanover also said they're going to add the popular "High School Musical 2" video to the site to drive more traffic.
"You will see an increased emphasis on programming on Disney.com going forward," Yanover said.

I just wish Disney continues to attract this many people all over the world. I heard their movies will not all make it to the shows outside the MGM? IS this true also? IF this is, my daughter will one of the fans of Disney movies that will get sad.
