On the Internet, the Almighty is starting to get his due, as according to comScore, GodTube was the fastest growing site on the Internet in August 2007.
The site grew an astounding 973 percent, and ranked among the top 1,000 web properties as measured by unique visitors.
The Website is basically YouTube with a Christian theme, and encourages Christians to upload their videos, share them and comment on them, like other video sharing sites.
Another religious site doing well has been MyChurch.org, which now has over 10,000 churches registered.
On the Jewish side of it, there is an attempt to start JewTube, which has been sued by Google for trademark violation.
When you consider GodTube, it's extraordinary to reach the level they reached in a one-month period. I'm referring to being in the top 1,000 of unique visitors to websites.
Advertisment on GodTube of Ten Commandments Animated Film
Because this site is going to scale fast, they will probably need a strong financial base to work from. I don't know what their backing is, but they will need some type of monetization, even if they're non-profit and need to break even.
I did notice an advertisement for the upcoming animated film "The Ten Commandments" on the site. I could see something like projects from Fox Faith being included as advertisements. Either way, they will probably have to answer that question very quickly, unless they have someone with really deep pockets financing them.
But when you consider YouTube and MySpace having to be monetized because of bandwidth costs alone, they will need answers pretty quickly.
If they continue to scale this quickly, we'll start to see some people serving this demographic getting interested very quickly.
