"Jacked" is a new Internet company developed to Interact with TV shows. It is founded by former American Greeting Mobile head Bryan Biniak.
The company is building a digital media platform to "hotwire their TVs."
They scored their first deal with NBC Sports to power up their NBCSports.com Play Action site, specifically in conjunction with the 2007 Notre Dame football season.
Included with the Notre Dame dashboard, according to Rafat Ali, will be "19 widgets including real-time statistics, photos, player information, play-by-play, chat, and news for both televised and non-televised Notre Dame games. Users can also purchase team paraphernalia via an Amazon widget."
At first I thought this might be too much, in the sense of another thing to take up one's time, but when it can be used interactively during a game, it could be an interesting feature and tool for fans to use to enhance their viewing experience.
This will be worth watching to see how it takes with fans and if it's something to think about adding to our various online businesses and strategies.
"Jacked" recently secured a first round of financing (after seed money) for about $6.5 million, led by Provenance Ventures, Core Capital Partners, and Gabriel Venture Partners.
