
For those of you who may not of heard of Ira Glass, he's has a radio show called "This American Life," where he interviews people all across the spectrum of life. Many of his best shows are conversations with regular people who have never done interviews or been on the radio before.
His public radio show has been a leader in breaking down the old ways public radio has operated, and has been infusing fresh air into the medium for over 10 years.
As one writer says, "He is putting the spotlight on folks who tend to get ignored by other journalists, and he is a master of delicate storytelling. Glass is also something of a pioneer of citizen participation in media. Some of his best shows feature folks who have never done radio before. Glass has been reaching out to amateurs for years, sharing knowledge and encouraging them to find their own voice."
He's recently migrated to video, as he premiered his TV version of This American Life on Showtime in March 2007.
Always generous with helping others by giving his advice and tips on how to better perform their craft, he tells people things like take time to find interesting stories and producing isn't hard, but finding something worth producing is.
