Yesterday we talked about the storm season now upon us and how we need to be reminded of being prepared for potential disasters that could happen in our industry; especially on the various effects that could come upon us from the disastrous mortgage problems.
Remember when things tighten up, companies will cut back on advertising as one of their first moves.
But I wanted to quickly mention how Countrywide Financial, largest lender in the U.S. at this time as far as volume goes, was prepared for this disaster.
In their case was simply having a credit line in place they could tap just for a time such as they're in. While the problems they are now encountering are of their own making, it still doesn't take away from the fact they were prepared for such a time.
Another thing to keep in mind as far as alternatives and preparation is in traffic results. As another online marketer, Robin Good found out, relying on Google as the key to your traffic and by extension - income - can bring disaster to your business.
Multiple sources of traffic is one way of preparing for that type of disaster. While many people believe Google is the key source of driving traffic for online marketers, in reality for many it's not true.
For example, the primary driver of traffic for experienced online marketers is usually those with their own products that then develop an affiliate program. The affiliates will be the main drivers of traffic to the site, although a balanced number of sources is still always best.
I just wanted to mention these things because if you're unprepared for these potential diasters, they could end up destroying your business. Be aware of the major crisis that can arise which could dramatically impact your business. From there draw up your backup plans to address those issues if they arise.
These recent situations show you they can happen to anybody and any business. Be aware of the potential major threats that are out there and have plans in place to deal with them.
Sometimes the plans are having a variety of sources of income or traffic to offset major disruptions from any one source. In other words, the plans can be preemptive in nature, not only backup plans. Either way, we can't be ignorant of the risks out there.
