Google (GOOG) has landed a deal with News Digital Media (NDM) to add it to its content network, replacing Yahoo (YHOO) in the search area. The deal will include a number of websites like The Herald Sun, The Australian and The Daily Telegraph. The deal is a multi-year agreement.
Included in the deal will be text pay-per-click ads that could end up generating millions in revenue which the new partners would share. Paid search ad revenue will also be shared.
"We are extremely pleased to partner with such a significant global player like Google and extend long tail advertising on the NDM network," NDM chief executive Richard Freudenstein said.
In NDM network included five of the top eight new websites in Australia, and drew 7.2 million unique monthly visitors in July.
This is part of Google's strategy to compete with traditional media companies in the multi-billion dollar media market. The deal only includes text ads and not display or video ads.
