One area where Yahoo! (YHOO) kicks Googles' butt is in online news. Yahoo! draws almost four times the viewers that Google does in that area.
In response, Google (GOOG) will start inserting YouTube videos into its news stories in an attempt to attract viewers away from the popular site, and other competitors as well.
Overall Google only places sixth in those visiting it to watch online news. It is of course first in the online video market through its YouTube acquisition.
Yahoo's news site draws 35.2 million visitors, in contrast to Google's 9.28 million. Even MSNBC clobbers Google in this area handily, drawing 27.8 million for the second most visited online news site, while AOL News finished third with 25.1 million monthly visitors.
Google will also draw from partner sites CBS Corp. (CBS-A) and Reuters Group Plc. (RTR). They will insert the video next to text versions of stories.
