A study on the highest read and click rates cited by Marketing Charts, reveals that during the second quarter the best results were on Wednesdays. The other two best days were Thursdays and then Mondays, said the eROI report.
While Wednesday did provide the best results, read rates were 27 percent, Thursdays and Mondays were just behind with read rates of 26 percent.
On the weekend, read rates for Saturday were only 12 percent, and Sunday wasn't much better with 14 percent.
Some of this is attributable to seasonal downturns, which always slow down some in the summer months.
The study added that concerning the time emails were opened in the day, it stayed pretty much the same as the same time frame last year, as the hours of 11am to 4pm were the times of highest reading, "...we see spikes bookending the work day with a noticeable spike around lunchtime. Specifically, 11am and 4pm scored the highest marks for business hour read rates and click through rates.”
