Last post we talked about some of the random things that are connected to online video ad success. This post I want to draw that into the niche content realm.
One of the reasons niche content is so powerful, is it's connection with those who are truly interested in what it is you're talking about. This has a lot of advantages of course, but it also has advantages in presenting video ads.
The great thing about niche, is it's much easier to target people visiting these type of websites, than it is those visiting general sites with a variety of topics.
Think of action gaming sites. Knowing the young male for the most part is the user of these sites, offers a lot of ways video ads could be made and presented that would be something they'd want to see. I know it also caters to product-placement within the games, but we're only talking video ads specifically here.
With young males, it's known that they love action types of entertainment. So in the case of an action movie, it wouldn't be too disruptive to present that in a video ad on a gaming content site. I'm talking about websites, communities or blogs that offer commentary and thoughts on the gaming world, not the place where games are specifically played online. That's a different game, although the same demographic as far as action games go.
The point is within any niche audience, there will be specific things that are very interesting to them. All we have to do is take those interests, like the action element of targeting young males, and from there offer them ads within videos that they would consider of interest to them.
Just like niche sites, by design, should limit the numbers of people that visit them, on the video ad side, it also is a strength that provides the possibility of a much higher return on investment because of the very targeted nature of the demographic inhabiting the website.
Not only does it offer that possibility, but people visiting niche sites are usually much more vocal in what they see going on. That gives an opportunity for receiving the type of feedback that can help us structure future campaigns to the demographic; whether the feedback is positive or negative.
What any ad to a niche audience offers is a chance to really connect with those we're reaching out to. Our ads need to reflect that reality by being niche in themselves as well. The overall general type of ad won't work here, like an ad made directly for the highly targeted audience.
In a sense, we're making customized ads to fit the audience. If it's done right, viewers will be very responsive to what we have to offer. I think this should be a big part of the online video ad direction we take.

Product placement is also very effective in those online-videos posted by "web-lebrities" on a regular basis. Brandfame - www.brandfame.com - is a product placement agency that helps brand connect with those web-lebrities to make product placement / sponsorship deals. Check it out, it's free.
