Viewing of online video is increasing in practice as close to 75 percent of all Internet users in the United States streamed online video in May, said ComScore in a press release on their Video Metrix report.

For May, the average Internet user in the U.S viewed over 158 minutes of video, or over 2.5 hours of online video for the month.

Not surprisingly, Google (GOOG) led the way in unique video streamers and video streamed, said the report. Including all Google sites, it accounted for 21 percent of all video streams in the U.S. in May. That ends up being around 1.8 billion videos, with YouTube accounting for 1.7 billion of them.

Second place went to Fox Interactive Media (NWS-A), which had 680 million streams across its online properties, which is 8 percent of all online video stream in the U.S. during May. Yahoo (YHOO) was in third place in the field with 387 million streams, which was 4 percent of the total. Fourth was Viacom Digital (VIA-B) with 237 million streams, or 2 percent of the overall amount.

The total streams of all online U.S video users was 8.3 billion video streams during May.
 
For unique video streamers, Google brought in 64 million, while Fox Interactive reached 53 million, and Yahoo was in third with 35 million.

The report said average length of a stream was 2.5 minutes, with 63 video streams being consumed monthly by the average user.
