With portable audio and video becoming a larger part of everyday life, there has been a lack of guidance as to best practices concerning standards and measurement with ads in the industry.
In response, a new trade organization has formed to that end. Calling themselves the Association for Downloadable Media (ADM), it now consists of 15 companies, which includes Apple (AAPL), Nielsen, Kiptronic, PotTech and National Public Radio, among others.
To join, one can go to www.downloadablemedia.org. The cost for a company is $1,000, while individual producers, podcasters, distributors and video bloggers can join or $150.
The stated purpose of the organizaton is to help companies and individuals with generating revenue from advertising and sponsorships of their content via ATOM, RSS, peer-to-peer, Web site downloads and mobile devices, through developing standards and reliable measurement in the space.
