The growth of the online ad spending market in Europe is continuing strong as it reached the $10.8 billion mark in 2006, almost double where it finished in 2005, according to the European arm of the Interactive Advertising Bureau.
The UK was especially strong as it led all 13 countries that the report covered, bringing in 39 percent of the total online ad spend.
The next two leading countries were Germany, which accounted for 22 percent of overall online ad spend of the 13 countries. France was third with 15 percent of the total. The three countries dominated the overall market, accounting for 76
percent of all online ad spending of the countries.
Leading the way for means of online ad spending were search, which was 45 percent of all spending; display ads were next, acounting for 31 percent; classifieds followed with 22 percent; and email was last with 1.6 percent. I would've thought that email marketing would have been a much higher percentage of the total.
