CBS (CBS-A) announced it's invested in TicketReserve, an Internet-based ticket agency.
TicketReserve provides fans of various events the opportunity to reserve the right to buy tickets at face-value. They are vouchers which can be traded over a free-market system. If the purchaser decides to use the voucher for themselves, they can use it to buy a ticket as cost for the specific event.
"TicketRESERVE operates a proprietary electronic marketplace for hard-to-get tickets as follows: Fans purchase reservations, known as FanFORWARDs, for a specific team, artist, or event, guaranteeing them the right to buy face-value tickets."
While CBS said it would initially use them for their sports programming, they would probably extend that to non-sporting programming and live events in the future.
CBS will also help TicketReserve with online, marketing and broadcasting resources.
The amount of investment in the company by CBS wasn't disclosed.
