Spider-Man 3 and Creating Buildup for Your Big Launch

Going to the official Spider-Man 3 blog and looking at the different things they had on the site, made me think of things we could do in our online marketing efforts to build up the tension and anticipation to a big launch.

Something interesting I hadn't thought of before was in some of the things shown on the various videos they had.

We all know how people like special effects and interviews on DVDs after a movie has went through the theater rounds. They do it on the blog in a pre-DVD sort of way.

Not only are people getting the buildup to Spider-Man 3, but it's like they're getting a prequel to the DVD release along with it.

What I like about this is once you've got someone hooked on what you're offering or presenting, you can get them built up in anticipation even more with more bait being offered them about your product launch.

I've went around online today and read reviews of what people thought about the new Spidey, and even though some had some spoilers in their writing, it doesn't make me want to stay away from the film. It even heightens the desire to see and experience it for myself.

While we can't let everything be known obviously, I think that giving a little more steak will give our offerings a little more sizzle and make our customers want what we have even more.

The other great thing is if we do it right, what we present before the release or launch of our product will go viral before it's officially offered. You could call it pre-viral.

This would work really great, like the Spider-Man 3 sequel, when you already have established, trusted relationships with existing customers.

The key to me seems to be in giving a little more information than usual, or something that is the equivalent of what a DVD would offer about the creation or process leading to your product or service. People love an insider view of processes, development and interviews, something the DVD and movie industry has known for a while.

Here are some Spider-Man 3 Videos to Enjoy:

Watch a video with James Acheson, Costume Designer for Spider-Man 3, as he discusses Harry Osborn's costume.

Watch a video with Bryce Dallas Howard, as she talks about her role as Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3:

Watch a video with John Frazier, SFX Supervisor 2, as he talks about a key scene from Spider-Man 3:
