
Starting next month, Simon & Schuster will be launching a Web channel that will feature two-minute video clips of a variety of books across all its divisions. They're naming the video channel "Bookvideos.tv.
Some of the authors that will be included in the launch will be Susan Patron, Mary Higgins Clark and Sandra Brown.
Included with the books that are highlighted will be biographical information on the authors and a behind-the-scenes look at some of the individual books, said Sue Fleming, vice president of online and consumer marketing, cited by the L.A. Times.
One of the major reasons I'm highlighting this story is because we've talked a little in the past about the value of behind-the-scenes types of content that people love to look at, and also the biographical side of people that may be involved with various projects.
When you think of DVDs and how they're actually the real revenue-generators in Hollywood, what makes them so valuable to buyers is the very biographical and behind-the-scenes video that's included with the movie.
Whatever online market we serve, this is definitely something to look at to include as part of what you're offering to people. It's been proven that people just love to look at people and the processes that make up various projects and products. Give them what they want!
