Being a staunch Battlestar Gallactica fan, when I heard that they had their webisodes online last year, I went and watched them more than once to quench my thirst for one of my favorite TV shows.
Now NBC Digital Entertainment (GE) will be offering a Webisode "Inside Heroes" which does exactly what it's says; it takes you on a behind-the-scenes excursion of "Heroes" which will be offered up in eight episodes starting May 21 on nbc.com.
With this being one of the few bright spots for NBC, they are trying hard to protect it and keep it in the minds of the shows fans during the summer break.
They will all have in-depth profiles of heroes online, while continuing on with their "graphic novel" portrayel of the show.
All of this is interesting in itself, but I'm using it again to encourage those of you that have core customers online to think of these types of things with your business.
There are times when you're between projects, products and services. During these times people do some forgetting. While you may not be creating something at the time, you can let people know what you're doing, how you came up with ideas, or anything that relates to who you are and what you're doing.
I used to sell financial products and was a financial adviser. When I looked at some of the financial blogs online and what they talked about, it was really baby stuff, yet people really liked a lot of it. The reason why? People wrote them like financial diaries: talking about little steps they were taking or investments they were thinking about getting into.
This is that voyeur that exists in so many people that love to find out these personal things about other people. They're still popular to this day.
That's the reason DVDs still remain Hollywoods moneymaker. They don't make money on movies in the theaters, they make them on DVD sales. What especially drives people to these sales is that they're taken onto the set and shown all the stuff that was being done and interesting interviews with their favorite stars or directors. It's that they're being made to feel like insiders.
Anything you do to make people feel part of the inner circle will work wonders on your bottom line. It could be done with little, short video clips, blog entries, audio, or any number of combinations. Do this and you'll find that they will always be there eagerly waiting and watching for what you're doing or offering next.
