MySpace (NWS-A) has added an additional tool for content owners as it announced Friday that they have launched a new copyright protection software component to the site called Take Down Stay Down.
What is does is keep user from putting a video up again that's been requested to be taken down by copyright owners; a huge frustration and time-consumer that has been a point of contention between content owners and video sites.
This could put additional pressure on YouTube (GOOG) to offer the same type of software to make it more feasible for owners to protect themselves. They can no
longer argue that the technology isn't available.
MySpace has been much more proactive in this than YouTube with also making audio and video filtering tools available, along with the a Content Take Down tool used to make requests to have their content taken down that's being used without permission.
