Google has been testing some new interactive "Gadgets" that will enable advertisers to embed rich media applications into their Web pages.
The application was revealed at an auton industry marketing conference, but will be available for any product by the time it launches in the summer.
The new "Gadgets" will be similar to widgets in that you will have the choice to add interactivity and rich media like video, flash and real-time feeds to a display ad.
The "Google Gadgets" will also come in the usual IAB ad format and won't add any hosting or server costs to the bottom line.
There won't be any changes as far as the current auction system as the ads will still be placed like they have been. You can either bid by content or by a specific publisher's site. With the option of CPC or CPM pricing, the new ads can be merged into your currrent Adsense budget.
Included with the changes will be new tools that Google developed to work within the Google Analytics services. You'll be able to check metrics on what features visitors are clicking on most frequently and can adjust or adapt what's needed to make them more effective.
"But they don't have to be complex," said Zal Bilimoria, product marketing manager, Google. "Anyone who can build a Web site can have a Gadget Ad."
