Viacom Inc. (VIA-B) has chosen to have Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) for its advertising partner as they've inked a multiyear agreement that should move Yahoo into a stronger position against its chief rival Google (GOOG).
Yahoo's text ads will stand along search results across Viacom's online properties like BET.com, ComedyCentral.com and MTV.com.
This is the first major deal that Yahoo has landed since it launched its new "Panama" system.
"We couldn't be more pleased to have them as a partner and we look forward to growing our relationship even more over time," said Philippe Dauman, Viacom's chief executive officer.
No terms of the deal were released, but current industry standards indicate that Viacom should receive approximately 70 to 80 percent of revenue generated from Yahoo ads.
