Through its recent deal with Joost, Viacom (VIA-B) has started to increase the content it offers through the partnership by adding a number of shows to the new version of Joost's free software. Joost is a free, ad-supported Internet television service.
Most of the new programming was from MTV, Logo, Comedy Central and VH1, and was released on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Viacom said that "There's much more that was licensed in the agreement than is actually up." He added that is was just the tip of the iceberg for what is going to eventually be offered.
The agreement between the two companies came after negotiations between Viacom and Google (GOOG) broke down for licensing content through its YouTube Web site. Not too long after that Viacom filed a copyright suit against Google seeking over $1 billion in damages.
