The latest deal between an independent sports fan site dedicated to Ohio State University and ESPN (DIS) shows how you never know where your passion will lead you.
ESPN has signed a content sharing and cross promotional deal with Bucknuts.com, the fan site.
The details of the agreement are that the Bucknuts.com site will include ESPN.com content while ESPN.com will carry Bucknuts content across the Ohio State team pages on the site.
In another nice perk for those Bucknut premium service subscribers are they will now be included as members of the ESPN insider - which is ESPN.com's paid premium service.
“College sports fans, and Ohio State fans in particular, are some of the most passionate out there,” said David Geaslen, director, Scouts ESPN. “Bucknuts.com is the authoritative voice in The Ohio State sports landscape and working with them will enrich our already robust college sports content at ESPN.com.”
For those of you looking for content to add to your sites, or as part of your online strategy, this is a good example of a way that it can be done. It would be worthwhile to look at these types of partnerships that would fill in some of the blanks you many have in whatever market you're serving.
