The publisher of such magazines as Ladies' Home Journal and Better Homes and Gardens, Meredith Corporation has launched a new video sight Better.tv which has 20 different categories created to catch your interest. It has channels like Relationships, Fitness, Mrs. Fixit, Entertainment and Remodeling, among many others.
Better.tv will also be located on the changing Better Homes & Gardens site as well, which is ready to relaunch this month.
Meredith President-CEO Steve Lacy said, "One of our key strategies is to find new ways to reach the next generation of Meredith consumers - the daughters of baby-boomer women. The creation of Better.tv - paired with the relaunch of BHG.com - significantly increases our ability to connect younger women with our trusted brands. It also enables us to expand our digital assets and offerings to marketers eager to reach the wide band of women we serve."
Lifestyle strategies are similar in a sense to luxory Web sites as they have a high demand for photos or video. With the DIY aspect of lifestyle sites, it is a perfect
venue for video and how-to photos that visitors are used to seeing.
The lifestyle magazines are really pushing their online strategies this year, which is a good measurement - like we talked about last post on Martha Stewart - of how people will consume professionally made video against user-generated content.
