Comcast (CMCSA) has expanded its online presence by purchasing Fandango.com, a movie-ticket Web site.
Fandango has a healthy user base, driving between 4-5 million unique visitors a month. It will be included with the Comcast Interactive Media unit now.
The cable giant obviously had been working on this awhile as they already announced that they will launch a companion site this summer called Fancast, which will combine Comcast's current Web content with Fandango's content, with the goal of rolling out an entertainment site that reaches across the U.S. and people can search for any film or television content that is available to watch
where they are.
CIM President Amy Banse said that Fandango is a "dynamic, profitable business with a superb management team. Adding Fandango to CIM and creating Fancast.com will enable us to leverage our combined assets."
