Airtran Airways, which is based in Atlanta, and sponsors of Andretti Green Racing and Danica Patrick, have created an online game staring the Indy racing beauty to promote their AirTran A+ Rewards, the airline's frequent-flier program, writes MediaPost.
The game is called AirTran Raceway, and is built to reward the online gamers running the fastest times with tickets. You race against Danica and can choose race tracks at airports and vehicles built around airport themes like powerful luggage carts and catering trucks.
Danica is in the background via sound bites either complementing your skills or basically telling you how lousy you are at racing.
"Online entertainment is becoming an integral component to all brand campaigns," says Karen Seaman, executive vice president/general manager of C-K Chicago, in a release. "We set out to create online content that would encourage people to sign up for A+ rewards, while giving them a chance to 'play' with the brand."
The game is getting a major marketing push through banner ads on Web portals and 30-second spots during races on TV. They're also blitzing online travel sites and putting up posters promoting the game in numerous airports.
