
The online dance craze that has caught on in Asia has caught the attention of one big music company as Warner Music Group (WMG) has partnered with Acclaim Games to launch a multiplayer online dancing game that is free to play.
Open Beta testing for the new online game has started this week. In a first for the major music industry, Warner Music Group will offer content that features master recordings and their top talent in a multiplayer game for free.
As a result, users will be able to dance to select WMG artists they choose.
David Perry, the game's director and industry superstar designer said concerning the phenomenon that "DANCE! Online has started the music-based game revolution which has captured the minds of hundreds of millions of players in Asia."
How it works is you create your own avatar and can either use a computer keyboard or a PC compatible dance pad to perform your dance. It offers choreographed dance steps to help you along. You can also dance with friends as the game enables you to dance with up to six people altogther.
Similar to virtual worlds, you can also buy things from a game shop so you can customize your character to give you the look you want. Song packs will be also made available to purchase from WMG's catalog.
The game will be monetized through in-game advertising via IGA Worldwide.
